The wait is finally almost over – the 2025 NFL draft starts tomorrow.
Darren Mougey and the New York Jets have run a tight ship. It’s anyone’s guess as to what they’ll do this weekend.
To get a better idea of what the league expects, I reviewed five different mock drafts. Below are the sources and the individual who wrote them:
Any mock draft is at best an educated guess and at worst a pipe dream. However, by accumulating the consensus of multiple analysts, we can at least get more insight than we can from any individual mock draft.
Unsurprisingly, Membou is the heavy favorite, getting picked in three of the five mock drafts.
Mykel Williams is a bit of a curveball, but there has been smoke connecting him to the Jets. We’ll find out in a few days whether that’s a fire or just a smoke screen.
PFF is the only mock draft that chose to pass on Membou to take Warren. Notably, The 33rd Team had Warren sliding all the way to pick 26 while Colston Loveland fell out of the first round altogether.
Are you noticing a trend? Four of the five mocks selected a defensive tackle, including two votes for Tyleik Williams. While the Jets have Quinnen Williams, they need help next to him, especially against the run.
The 33rd Team addresses OT with their next pick after taking Warren at 7. Depending on what happens on day one, it seems fair to expect DT or OT to be the pick in round two.
Round three is all over the place, which isn’t a huge surprise. Beyond the top 50 or so prospects, rankings vary widely, with some seeing a top 75 player and others seeing an undrafted player. This variance only grows as the draft goes on, so I’ll summarize the takeaways at the end.
110th Overall
145th Overall
162nd Overall
186th Overall
207th Overall
A few players repeat while other trends become clearer.
The Jets have been connected to quarterback Kyle McCord in the past and could be a developmental target. Wide receiver Xavier Restrepo, safety Jaylen Reed, and cornerback Upton Stout are three additional players with repeat appearances. Reed has also met with the Jets, but the other two haven’t.
While tight end is a major focus among fans, only PFF took one in the first two rounds. The 33rd Team, which assisted in the Jets’ hiring process, didn’t take any. Given the dire need and talented class, it would be a questionable decision not to take a single tight end.
Three of the drafts locked on the Jets’ top needs of offensive tackle, defensive tackle, and tight end. The NFL, ESPN, and PFF mock drafts took players at each position with their first four picks. All five took an offensive tackle with one of their first three picks.
Which draft class would you prefer?
