Prior to Monday night's game between the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears, fans noticed that Caleb Williams had an important message painted on his nails. It even grabbed Angel Reese's attention.
Williams, the No. 1 pick from the 2024 NFL Draft, started off Week 1 by completing his first 10 passes. When the dust settled though, the Bears suffered a 27-24 loss to the Vikings. Their talented quarterback from USC completed 60% of his passes for 210 yards with a touchdown. He also had 58 yards and a touchdown on six carries.
"We were in control up to two scores coming out of half. That mentality is something that we have, something that we preach. That didn't happen today. It's not a playcall thing. It's not anything like that. It's just being able to go out there and execute the plays that are called, be able to execute them at a high level. That's something we take pride in," Williams said during his postgame press conference. "Today, that didn't happen."
Although the Bears came up short on Monday night, Williams made a statement by getting the suicide prevention logo and colors painted on his nails. He also got 988 painted on his nails for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Even though Angel Reese considers herself to be a Baltimore Ravens fan, she really appreciated this gesture from Williams.
Reese also revealed that her nail tech helped Williams' vision become a reality.
"Love this," Reese wrote on X. "My nail tech really wanted to do his nails & she KILLED it! So proud!"
While there's no question the Bears are committed to Williams for the next few seasons, there's no guarantee Reese will remain a member of the Chicago Sky by the time the 2026 season begins.
Reese recently let Chicago's front office know that she wants a better supporting cast around her.
“I’m not settling for the same s**t we did this year,” Reese told the Chicago Tribune. “We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That’s a nonnegotiable for me. I’m willing and wanting to play with the best. And however I can help to get the best here, that’s what I’m going to do this offseason to make sure we attract the best of the best, because we can’t settle for what we have this year.”
The Sky disciplined Reese for her remarks. They suspended her for the first half of this past Sunday's game against the Las Vegas Aces.
“The Chicago Sky values the safety, respect, and well-being of every player. We are committed to accountability so our players can stay focused on playing basketball,” the team's statement read. “Because of statements detrimental to the team made by Angel Reese during league-mandated media, she will not play in the first half of the game on September 7 against the Las Vegas Aces
Although it's pretty evident that Reese has love for the Windy City, it wouldn't surprise us to see her on another WNBA team fairly soon.
