The Wisconsin Badgers have returned to the 2026 recruiting cycle in an effort to try and flip some current commitments within the class.

Brody Jones, a three-star 2026 class Cincinnati commitment, earned a scholarship offer from Wisconsin recently and quickly set an official visit for the game against Maryland. The 6-foot-3-inch, roughly 180 pound defensive back is a dynamic defender who the program has kept an eye on due to his size and schematic fit. Jones holds an impressive list of offers that includes newcomers Missouri, Georgia Tech, and Houston as well as programs such as Tulane, UNLV, and Memphis.

The Arkansas native has been a late riser in the 2026 class and mainly received attention from smaller conference programs previously. Cincinnati was previously the only power conference program that offered a scholarship until Arizona State extended one in July. As talented and exciting as Jones is, the defender is not the only flip candidate that the Wisconsin Badgers program has been watching.

Both Jones and fellow 2026 defensive back and Oregon State commitment Donovan Dunmore have been closely tied to Wisconsin. The Badgers are working hard to land another commitment in the secondary to the 2026 class before fully moving onto the 2027 cycle. Wisconsin previously held a commitment from three-star defensive back Zachary Taylor, who later flipped his commitment to TCU and left a hole in the class.

The Badgers have been working to fill the void and Dunmore was the first target the staff grew close to while attempting to do so. The Oregon State commitment has been in consistent contact with the program over the last month and will also be in attendance for the clash against Maryland in Madison. Dunmore, a California native, shares a very similar build and play-style to both Taylor and Jones, highlighting the build for the position Wisconsin is looking for.

The Wisconsin staff likes to recruit tall, strong, and fast defensive backs who have the ability to cover a variety of different receivers and create athletic plays. The Badgers typically do not recruit defensive backs under 6-feet tall unless the player displays great ability and talent that makes up for the lack of size.

Speed is another tool the staff loves to see out of the position largely due to the growing athleticism of tight ends and running backs in the receiving game. Speed can kill on the field and defensive backs move around plenty within the Wisconsin defense, and being one dimensional is simply something that does not work within the defense. The Badgers utilize and rely on speed heavily in the secondary, and combined with size, speed is even more dangerous on the football field.

Both Jones and Dunmore represent potentially great options within the 2026 class for the Badgers as each defensive back is a picture perfect fit physically and schematically. The duo will be visiting campus in just over a week, presenting the staff with a great opportunity to potentially turn either player into a notable commitment flip.
