Tottenham Hotspur have improved their bid for Nico Paz

Tottenham Hotspur are still looking for a new playmaker at this late stage of the summer transfer window, and the recent setback they faced in the operation to bring in Eberechi Eze has made their task significantly more difficult.

As things stand, Spurs are being linked with several other noteworthy attacking midfielders and it remains to be seen whether they will be able to bring one of them into their team before the transfer market closes.

One such player who has been linked with the North London side quite often in these last few days is the Argentine youngster Nico Paz, who is currently playing in the Serie A with Como.

As per a report from Gianluca di Marzio, the Lilywhites are currently negotiating with the Italians, and are yet to receive a response for the second offer they made for the player.

Tottenham had made their first offer for the player back in the start of August, and this offer reached up to €40 million. Como were valuing the player at €70 million, and thus rejected this first offer. Spurs then increased their offer to €50 million, but a move has not yet been approved, either by the Italian side or the player himself.

Real Madrid making the operation complicated for Spurs

The European giants Real Madrid have several rights on the player, and other reports have suggested that this situation is making the operation further complicated for the North London side. In fact, the player himself might be planning to stay at Como for another year before trying to return to the Merengue side to play under Xabi Alonso.

The way Paz has grown in the last few years, his good performances in Italy, and his young age of 20 years all make him a very good candidate to improve the attacking midfield at Spurs. However, there are only a few days left in the transfer market, and Tottenham will have to work very hard to complete this transfer in time, especially keeping in view all the barriers they are facing.
