ICC has officially cleared Bangladesh all-rounder Nasir Hossain, and he is now allowed to play professional competitive cricket. The ICC issued a two-year ban to Hossain after he breached the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Code in the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2020-2021.
The Pune Devils' co-owners, Krishan Kumar Chaudhary and Parag Sanghvi; two domestic players, Rizwan Javed and Saliya Saman; batting coach Ashar Zaidi; assistant coach Sunny Dhillon; and team manager Shadab Ahamed were among the other individuals charged alongside Nasir Hossain. In September 2003, Nasir was banned and was required to attend an anti-corruption education session, which he did.
Nasir Hossain accepted three charges, which were failure to disclose to the designated anti-corruption official the gift receipt of $750 after he received an iPhone 12, the details of the invitation to engage in corruption, and failure to cooperate with the designated anti-corruption official’s investigation.
The 33-year-old cricketer, from 2011 to 2018, participated in 115 international matches for Bangladesh, which included 19 Tests, 65 ODIs, and 31 T20Is. In both first-class and Lists A cricket, he amassed 6000 runs.
The BCB issued a statement, and it acknowledged that Hossain met the requirement, and he is officially eligible to make a comeback. In his return to competitive cricket, he participated in the ongoing Dhaka Premier League for Rupganj Tigers against Gazi Group Cricketers at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
“As per the terms of the sanction, Nasir Hossain has now fulfilled all requirements, including completing the mandatory anti-corruption education session. The accomplishment has paved the way for his eligibility to re-enter official cricket as of April 7, 2025,” stated the BCB statement.
