A youth baseball team in Becker is seeking the public's help after a fire burned down its equipment shed.
The Becker Youth Baseball Association says that the shed, which was destroyed in a fire early on the Fourth of July, contained Becker Jr. Ball's bats, catcher’s gear, nets, tees, baseballs, and more.
"Years of effort and investment were lost in minutes," the team said in a newly launched GoFundMe campaign.
"We’re raising funds to replace the gear, so our players have what they need to take the field next year. Every dollar goes directly toward new equipment for the kids."
The fundraiser has generated just under $2,000 so far.
The fire at the Becker Athletic Complex, which also saw two portable toilets destroyed is being investigated as possible arson.
Becker Police Department says it happened a few hours after another portable toilet was burned at Kolbinger Park, with an 18-year-old man arrested after admitting to setting off a firework in the toilet.
Police are investigating whether the two incidents are connected.
