Ben Stiller watched the Indiana Pacers eliminate the New York Knicks on Saturday night. Adding insult to injury, Reggie Miller was on the call.
Miller, a Pacers legend and constant thorn in the Knicks' side, worked the Eastern Conference Finals on TNT. The Hall of Famer witnessed his former team punch a ticket to the NBA Finals for the first time since he took them there in 2000. Just like 25 years ago, the Pacers advanced with a Game 6 win over the Knicks.
Stiller, a well-documented Knicks fan, tweeted throughout the evening's elimination game. The actor and comedian didn't seem to appreciate Miller's commentary.
"This is where I am glad I live in a free country and can mute Reggie Miller," Stiller wrote as the Pacers closed out a 125-108 win.
Unlike many Knicks fans, Stiller didn't need to listen to Miller's analysis for most of the series. He's a courtside staple at Madison Square Garden and also cheered on the Knicks alongside Timothée Chalamet at Indiana earlier this series.
In Game 4, Pat McAfee called out Stiller, Chalamet, and Lee to jeers from Pacers fans. While Chalamet nevertheless returned to Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday, Stiller appeared to watch this matchup from home.
Before the game, the 59-year-old trash-talked Tyrese Haliburton. Responding to a video of the Pacers star arriving in all-black, Stiller joked about an accessory he hoped would come in handy for a Game 7 in Manhattan.
"Good thing he brought his duffel for the flight to NY," Stiller wrote.
Haliburton got the last laugh. The point guard clapped back at Stiller after recovering from a quiet Game 5 to register 21 points, 13 assists, six rebounds, and three steals on Saturday.
"Nah, was to pack y'all up," Haliburton replied.
There seems to be no real beef between the All-Star and Severance creator, as Stiller congratulated Haliburton and wished him "all the best in OKC."
Stiller also celebrated the Knicks, who returned to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since losing to Miller's Pacers in 2000.
"Love this team," Stiller wrote. "Thank you for the incredibly exciting run."
