Big 12 Releases 2025-26 Basketball Scheduling Matrix: What Fans Should Know

The Big 12 just dropped its 2025-26 basketball scheduling matrix, setting the stage for a loaded year in both men’s and women’s hoops—and there’s no shortage of storylines.

Each team will play 18 conference games, including three home-and-home matchups and 12 single meetings (six at home, six away). The full calendar with dates will come later, but for now, we’ve got clarity on who’s facing who, and who avoids each other.

On the men’s side, traditional powers like Kansas and Houston draw each other twice, while newcomers like Arizona and Arizona State get thrown into the fire early. Arizona’s home-and-homes with Kansas, Arizona State, and BYU will test the Wildcats’ Big 12 mettle right away. Meanwhile, Houston, fresh off a national runner-up finish and still loaded with talent, faces both Baylor and Texas Tech in home-and-home showdowns. Buckle up.

The women’s side is just as intriguing. Arizona gets Utah, Colorado, and Arizona State twice—three likely top-half finishers. BYU, which continues to climb under Amber Whiting, draws the Utes, Buffs, and Sun Devils as well. Texas Tech and UCF, two of the most active portal teams this offseason, both landed balanced slates that could swing based on chemistry and cohesion.

Why does this matter? For fans, this is your early look at must-see games, revenge spots, and road trips worth planning. For recruits: conference balance and high-profile clashes will be a significant draw. And for coaches: there’s no hiding in a 16-team league this deep.

Big 12 women’s basketball just wrapped up a historic year—five ranked teams, three McDonald’s All-Americans signed, and multiple Sweet 16 appearances. ESPN even called the league one of the biggest portal winners. On the men’s side, five teams landed in ESPN’s Way-Too-Early Top 25, and the Big 12 led all leagues in NCAA Tournament win percentage (66.7%).

Both championships will return to Kansas City’s T-Mobile Center in March: the women’s championship from March 4 to 8 and the men’s championship from March 10 to 14.

Until then, all eyes turn to player development, transfers settling in, and the full schedule release. But now? It’s never too early to circle a few dates and start the smack talk.
