One weekend remains in the 2025 regular season for Big 12 softball, but the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament and regular season title is already spoken for.

After securing a series victory over Arizona State on Saturday, Texas Tech won the Big 12 regular season title for the first time in program history, and will be the proverbial team to beat in Oklahoma City next week.

The Red Raiders’ 18-3 record in conference play puts them four games ahead of second place, and puts them in a position to give their All-American a bit of rest this weekend, if they so choose.

Behind TTU, there’s chaos to be had, though, as the middle of the Big 12 standings is chock-full of teams flirting with .500 in conference play with one series left. Here’s how the teams stack up heading into the month of May.

1. Texas Tech Red Raiders (Last Week: 1)

Record: 39-11 (18-3 Big 12)

Texas Tech is the only team in the conference that has yet to lose a series in Big 12 play, and heading into their season finale against BYU, they appear to be the league’s best hope of making the Women’s College World Series.

2. Arizona Wildcats (Last Week: 2)

Record: 40-10 (14-7 Big 12)

After dropping their biggest series of the year last weekend, Arizona split a two-game series with San Diego State and will close out the year at Houston. They’re currently the only team in the Big 12 to eclipse 40 wins.

3. Iowa State Cyclones (Last Week: 3)

Record: 28-20 (13-8 Big 12)

Iowa State’s turnaround in 2025 has been sensational, and after a series victory over Utah this past weekend, the ‘Clones are likely to be a top-four seed in the Big 12 tournament next week—their highest seeding to date.

4. Arizona State Sun Devils (Last Week: 4)

Record: 34-18 (14-10 Big 12)

Arizona State has quietly put together a solid tournament resume this season, and with a win over Texas Tech on Sunday, it got a little bit better. They’ll get the weekend off to prepare for a trip to OKC, and with a good showing there, they should make the NCAA Tournament.

5. Baylor Bears (Last Week: 8)

Record: 25-24 (10-11 Big 12)

Hello, Baylor. It’s too little, too late, but the Bears are 12-4 in their last 16 games and are coming off a series victory over BYU. They’ll get Iowa State in Ames this weekend, which should be the best matchup of the weekend.

6. BYU Cougars (Last Week: 7)

Record: 30-14 (12-9 Big 12)

BYU has the third-best winning percentage in the Big 12, but their inability to take down teams like UCF and Baylor is what is holding them back from being near the top of this list. They’ll get a shot at the league champions this weekend with TTU coming to Provo.

7. Oklahoma State Cowgirls (Last Week: 5)

Record: 29-17 (10-9 Big 12)

There’s no two ways about it—the 2025 season has been disappointing for Kenny Gajewski’s group. THe Cowgirls struggled to put away Kansas this weekend and ended up dropping Sunday’s game, putting them just one win over .500 on the season.

8. UCF Knights (Last Week: 6)

Record: 29-21-1 (9-12 Big 12)

The rollercoaster continues in Orlando, as UCF managed to take down Houston over the weekend, but dropped Game 2 by a whopping six runs.

9. Kansas Jayhawks (Last Week: 9)

Record: 21-24 (6-15 Big 12)

KU pushed Oklahoma State to extras in Game 2 and ended up winning Game 3 of their series this weekend. That won’t be nearly enough to get them into the NCAA Tournament though.

10. Utah Utes (Last Week: 10)

Record: 13-36 (5-16 Big 12)

Utah’s season has been rough from the get-go, but a win over Iowa State on Sunday helped them avoid the sweep. Unfortunately, they’ll be on the road at Stillwater this weekend, and will take an 0-9 record as the visitor with them.

11. Houston Cougars (Last Week: 11)

Record: 22-21 (4-15 Big 12)

Houston has lost every Big 12 series dating back to their opening series win over Iowa State back in early March. That’s not likely to change, either, as they’ll host Arizona this weekend to close out the year.
