Buccaneers' Bucky Irving Poised To Be All-Purpose Weapon In 2025

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving burst onto the scene last season, emerging as one of the better backs in football behind Baker Mayfield.

Irving's rushing ability was on show has he surpassed 1,000 yards and posted eight rushing touchdowns, but it was his ability as a receiver (47 rec, 392 yards) that made him a deadly weapon for then coordinator Liam Coen.

Now with Josh Grizzard calling the shots, we have seen Irving being used more as a receiver this offseason, as he looks to become a bigger weapon in the passing game.

But is that something that genuinely interests him?

"I'm always excited," Irving said. "Whatever I got to do to help this team win football games, whether it's special teams, whether it's catching the ball out of the backfield, wherever they need me to be, I'm going to be there because, I want to be there for my team and I want to win football games."

With a loaded offense, many have touted the Buccaneers as a dark horse Super Bowl contender in 2025, and Irving is going to have a lot to say about how far this team goes.

Now the undisputed No. 1 back, with Rachaad White his backup, Irving has a clear runway to emerge as not only one of the better backs in the league, but the potential to be mentioned in the upper echelon on backs.

His rushing ability is well known, and now, if he can add becoming a genuine receiver, say like a Christian McCaffrey, then this Buccaneers offense, which is already loaded with weapons, might just go to another level.
