There has been a lot of talk in the aftermath of Tuesday's high-octane matchup between the Indiana Fever and the Connecticut Sun. It was the Fever who secured a dominant 88-71 win behind Caitlin Clark's game-high 20 points, but there was much more to discuss other than the result.
Clark was involved in multiple altercations during the game, with one resulting in a technical foul for the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year. Clark was whistled for a tech after retaliating to an eye poke from Sun guard Jacy Sheldon.
Clark shoved Sheldon, which led to other Connecticut players getting involved in the incident as well.
What cannot be denied, though, is that the Sun were very physical toward Clark throughout the game. This isn't the first time this has happened, either, which is exactly what sportscaster Rachel Nichols pointed out in a recent episode of the "Open Floor" podcast.
In fact, Nichols went as far as comparing Clark to Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry in terms of the type of defensive tactics the former back-to-back NBA MVP has to face on a nightly basis.
"I don't think the WNBA is going to be any more lenient than the NBA," Nichols said. "Look, I mean, we've seen Steph Curry that you mentioned beat up like this for years.
"I mean, that is basically the game plan against Steph Curry is just try to out-physical him and beat him up a little bit because, of course, you can't match the skill level. So I think the W is sort of taken a page from that."
Nichols went on to say, though, that much like Curry, she believes Clark is more than capable of standing up for herself in the face of opponents attempting to bully her.
"But so far, she's been able to handle everything that's been thrown at her," Nichols continued. "I don't really worry about her toughness. She might be her own enforcer, so we'll just have to see."

Great comparison tbh.

The result of Tuesday's contest is a testament to Clark's resilience. The Sun did all they could to disrupt her game, but she still ended up leading Indiana to a win--and it wasn't even close.
