Cam Skattebo sent a message to New York Giants fans after his costly fumble hurt the team in a 26-14 loss to the New Orleans Saints at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, La., in Week 5 on Sunday.
Skattebo’s Giants had the ball down 16-14 to start the fourth quarter. They had a 2nd-and-7 at the Saints’ 12-yard line and handed off to Skattebo, who surged up the middle but lost the ball. The Saints’ Jordan Howden picked up the ball and returned it 86 yards for a touchdown.

Saints scoop it and take it the length of the field for a touchdown! ⚜️ #Saints #NFL pic.twitter.com/ptlDPWNCbn
That was a total game-changing play. Instead of taking the lead on the possession with either a touchdown or field goal, the Giants ended up down two scores and never came back.
Recognizing how much of a costly play that was, Skattebo apologized to his team’s fans after the game.
“Sorry giants fans!!! I’ll be better for yall (sic) !!!! Love!!!” he wrote in a post on X.
