The Canadian Women's National team have been dominant for quite some time, and now they've added six debutants to their team for the 2025 World Championships as they aim to go back-to-back ahead of the highly anticipated 2026 Olympic Games.
Team Canada have won three of the past four Women's World Championships, including a 6-5 OT thriller against the United States a year ago, and now, they're out to defend their crown.
The 25 person squad for the tournament (set to be held in Czechia) has now been announced, and unsurprisingly, all of the superstar names like Natalie Spooner, Sarah Nurse, Marie-Philip Poulin and so many other have been named as key members of the squad.
However, there are also six intriguing debutants in the team, with those being Chloe Primerano, Hannah Miller, Daryl Watts, Sophie Jaques, Eve Gascon, and Jennifer Gardiner, all making their debut at the top level for Canada.
While hockey at the international level hasn't been as much of a priority for the men in recent years, the women have been putting on stellar tournament after stellar tournament, with the United States or Canada sealing gold in every tournament dating back to 1990.
That's now created an incredible rivalry, and with the infusion of new talent in the Canadian squad, there's no doubt that all eyes again will be on this tournament as the best in the world once again do battle.
These names will be getting their first taste of international hockey ahead of the 2026 Olympic Games, and if they can thrive alongside the experienced members of this squad, Team Canada will be looking to add to their share of gold in the coming years.
