GLENDALE – Less than a month into his tenure with the Arizona Cardinals, first-round pick Jeremiyah Love has already made an impact. The highly-touted running back was unanimously one of the best prospects in the 2026 NFL draft for his gifted athletic ability. However, one of Love’s shining attributes has been his character, highlighted by franchise legend Larry Fitzgerald.
The newly-minted Hall of Famer appeared on former teammate Tyrann Mathieu’s podcast, “In The Bayou,” where he discussed the 21-year-old. The two share a moment during rookie minicamp, but Fitzgerald detailed their relationship goes back years.
Larry Fitzgerald reacts to the Arizona Cardinals drafting Jeremiyah Love
"I'm very excited that we were able to get a player of his caliber on the Cardinals because I think he can elevate everybody. He's got transcending talent, and he's made of the right things." pic.twitter.com/OTGTOM8CTN

The All-Pro wide receiver is a Fighting Irish Alumnus and continues to keep close ties with the program. When Fitzgerald’s son was visiting Norte Dame for a visit two years ago, Love made an immediate impact with the duo. The All-American continuously reach out to Fitzgerald’s son to see how his time/workouts are going. The connection Love has made with his teammates and the university has given Fitzgerald all the confidence that Love will succeed in Arizona.
The character is just an added bonus for the Cardinals, as Love’s power is what most impressed Fitzgerald. The 11-time Pro Bowler highlighted Love’s goal line touchdown vs. Penn State, where he broke multiple tackles to dive in for the score. The determination and balance is a trait that takes years for many young NFL players to master, while the rookie seems to have aced it perfectly.
