The high school GPA of new Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Beck has resurfaced during the 2026 NFL Draft.
On Friday, the Cardinals kicked off the third round by selecting Carson Beck with the No. 63 pick. He was the third quarterback drafted, behind Fernando Mendoza (first overall to the Las Vegas Raiders) and Ty Simpson (13th overall to the Los Angeles Rams).
Beck attended Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Florida, before beginning his college career at Georgia. Beck won two national championships there as a backup and eventually transferred to Miami, where he played out the 202 season.
During draft weekend, it’s a popular time for fans and analysts to look at prospects’ GPAs. Per the National Scouting Report, Beck had a high school GPA of 3.8.
In his final college season, Carson Beck threw for 3,813 yards, 30 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. The Hurricanes reached the national championship game, only to fall to the Indiana Hoosiers.
The Cardinals have the most uncertain quarterback situation across the NFL. They released Kyler Murray (he went on to sign with the Minnesota Vikings) and signed Gardner Minshew II to back up fellow veteran Jacoby Brissett.
Brissett and Minshew have limited ceilings, which is why they’re journeymen quarterbacks. Beck has higher upside, so don’t be surprised if he manages to compete for the starting quarterback job.
Beck will join an offense led by Marvin Harrison Jr., Trey McBride and prized rookie running back Jeremiyah Love. The pieces are there for him to succeed early.
