Chael Sonnen believes there is one fight that could spell real trouble for Jake Paul.
‘The Problem Child’ is scheduled to fight Gervonta Davis on November 14, 2025, at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
The reaction from the boxing world has been mixed. Some have pointed out the size difference between the two, while others like Paulie Malignaggi argue that Davis should be facing higher-level opponents.
Even with all the debate about who holds the edge, ‘The American Gangster’ said he would rather see Paul take on a different opponent entirely.
Chael Sonnen believes a fight between Jake Paul and Darren Till would be fascinating.
And from the way he spoke about it, the UFC legend seems to think ‘The Gorilla’ might just have the upper hand.
Sonnen said on his YouTube channel: “I really like the idea of Darren Till vs Jake Paul.”
“Jake Paul turns out to be good, but I think Darren does something a little more special with his combinations. I think he does something more special with his setups. That would be an interesting fight.
“Jake could beat Darren, but Darren could beat Jake, too. That’s a very competitive, and close, at least on paper, matchup, and I hope you guys give that some consideration.”
He added: “When he goes out there and Darren puts Luke Rockhold down, that’s a really hard thing to do. His understanding of range – not to mention he can turn range into power because he can keep his distance and he’s got precision – is impressive. He is good.”
“When he can overcome those voices… if it’s just going to be my skills vs yours – forget whose father did this or whose mother loved us more when we were children – if I can just make this about what I know vs what you know… Darren Till is going to beat you because Darren Till very simply put is really good.”
Paul vs Till would undoubtedly be a fight that would get fans talking.
But for now, all the attention remains on the bout with Davis.
Daniel Cormier recently weighed in on the match-up, and the former two-division UFC champion did not mince words, sharing a surprising opinion.
