Officials in hockey certainly don't have an easy job, and that was on show recently after a 12-year old brutally slashed a referee before being restrained by the other officials on the ice in a shocking scene.
Officials in hockey can often be put in dangerous spots given that they're locked on the ice with aggressive players, flying pucks and many tough situations, all while trying to make the right call every time.
Now, a video has been released of one of those dangerous situations coming to fruition, as a post on Reddit has revealed the disgusting actions of a 12-year old player in a minor hockey game.
With an official trying to pull a player away from a scrum, the 12-year old loses it, repeatedly slashing the official in anger and frustration, all while the referee continues to keep his cool and take the flat out assault.

That assault includes several slashes to the arm and the body, and while the player was eventually restrained by the other officials on the ice, there is absolutely no excuse for this type of behaviour.
It's unclear what is going to happen to the young player, but it's safe to say that actions like this can absolutely not go unpunished, as many in the comment section were calling for a minimum 12 month ban from the league, if not longer.
One thing that is and should always be preached in any level of sport is respect for the official, and while tensions and frustrations can grow, it should never get to this point, with a harsh punishment needed for this child to set the standard for this young league.
