Chicago Sky Get Unwanted Hailey Van Lith News Before Sparks Game

Hailey Van Lith hasn't exactly been lighting it up in her first two games for the Chicago Sky. The 23-year-old rookie has come off the bench for Chicago in the first couple of games of the season and has averaged 4.0 points and 3.0 assists in 10.0 minutes per contest.

More importantly, Van Lith has not been able to help her team score its first win of the new campaign. The Sky have suffered back-to-back blowout losses to start the new season. They lost 93-58 in their season opener against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, followed by a 99-74 defeat at the hands of the defending champions, the New York Liberty, on Thursday.

Unfortunately for Van Lith, she might not get a chance to mark her first career WNBA win on Sunday when Chicago returns to action in a road game against the Los Angeles Sparks. This is after the 5-foot-9 guard was listed as questionable to play against L.A. due to an ankle injury.

As of this writing, the Sky have not provided the details of Van Lith's injury, but what is clear is that the former TCU star is now in danger of missing a WNBA game for the first time.

Van Lith isn't exactly a star, but the No. 11 pick of the 2025 WNBA Draft is expected to play a relatively significant role for Chicago. In her final year in college last season with the Horned Frogs, the AP All-American guard averaged 17.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.7 triples per game.

It isn't likely that she will be able to replicate these numbers in the WNBA — at least not yet — but Chicago would benefit from her scoring and playmaking as a boost off the bench.

Should Van Lith end up sitting out Sunday's game against the Sparks, her next chance to play will be on Tuesday against the Phoenix Mercury.
