Colin Cowherd's Future With Fox Sports Leaning One Way

Colin Cowherd has been a key part of FOX Sports for the last decade, joining the company after a long stint at ESPN. He's been a star on television and in radio, and millions of viewers watch his show "The Herd " every week.

Cowherd may be a polarizing figure for many sports fans, but he's become one of the most watched during his career. His takes are often shared by users who disagree, but there's no denying that Cowherd has built a platform for himself.

With contract negotiations at FOX underway, the network seems to have come to an understanding of what the best course of action is for both parties.

According to Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports, Cowherd appears likely to sign a new deal with Fox Sports. Cowherd's current deal is set to expire late next month, and his new contract looks to extend him into the next few years.

"The Herd" has been one of the few constants in FS1's ever shifting lineup, holding down the fort as a reliable daily option in the afternoon. The show's success has allowed Cowherd to branch out from his previous avenues, starting The Volume podcast network with several top shows.

Shows under The Volume include "The Draymond Green Show," "Club Shay Shay," "Nightcap" and "Club 520." Cowherd also hosts his own show on the network, and daily episodes of "The Herd" are also broadcast under its umbrella.

As the landscape of sports media continues to change, some of the top names in the space can choose to go independent, or they can partner with legacy brands in order to gain some of their following and brand recognition.

Cowherd had the option to go fully independent with The Volume, and it's a move that likely would have paid off, but it appears that he's happy with his role at FS1.

As FOX and Fox Sports prepares to cover the Super Bowl yet again, they'll be bringing back one of their top analysts and hosts in Cowherd for next season and many more seasons to follow.

Fans who want to catch the coverage - and potentially get a look at Cowherd in New Orleans - can tune in on Sunday, February 9 at 6:30 PM ET.
