College Football’s Pop-Tarts Bowl Reveals Big News

One of the most popular moments of the 2023 college football season took place at the Pop-Tarts Bowl, and this year's game just became more interesting as bowl season approaches.

Last year's matchup between Kansas State and NC State in Orlando, Florida, went viral for captivating the college football world in possibly one of the most unique marketing campaigns in bowl history.

A life-sized Pop-Tart mascot made the rounds at Camping World Stadium, handing out Pop-Tarts and entertaining fans in attendance throughout the game. After Kansas State pulled off the 28-19 victory, the mascot stood at the top of a massive toaster oven at midfield before being lowered to meet its fate.

A giant strawberry Pop-Tart rolled out to be greeted by the Wildcats, who promptly ate the treat on air.

There is a twist this time around, however, as the Pop-Tarts Bowl announced on Monday that three flavors, or mascots in this case, will be present in Orlando.

Wild Berry, Hot Fudge Sundae and a mystery flavor will "battle it out" and one will be eaten by whichever team comes out on top.

This year's game will be held at Camping World Stadium between programs out of the ACC and Big 12 on Dec. 28 at 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN).

Some fans have already committed to clearing their schedules for this year's matchup.

"Taking the 28th off from work to watch the Pop-Tart bowl since i missed it last year," one fan responded.

"I will be tuning in. This is appointment television. This will be my son’s first Pop-Tarts Bowl. He’s got poptart fever!!!" one wrote.

Others are wondering what the mystery flavor will be.

"It better be cinnamon roll…. Those were the GOAT," another responded.

Athlon Sports projects Iowa State to take on No. 20 Clemson in the 2024 Pop-Tarts Bowl. The projection is subject to change with two weeks remaining in the regular season.
