The Tulane Green Wave lost the commitment from class of 2026 wide receiver Brayden Allen on Monday. The Colorado Buffaloes have quickly emerged as a serious contender to now land him.
After visiting the Buffaloes during their Week 5 loss to the BYU Cougars, the wide receiver said, "They really treated me like a priority and made it known to me that they don’t only want me, but they need me over there in Boulder," according to Rivals' Sam Spiegelman.
Of course, Colorado is in desperate need of a big addition to their 2026 recruiting class, which ranks No. 13 in the Big 12 and No. 53 in the nation. Their only wide receiver is three-star Christian Ward.
Whoever does come out on top in this battle will earn a solid prize, as Rivals Industry Rankings place him as a three-star recruit, the No. 92 wide receiver and the No. 596 player in the nation.
Despite only good things to say following his visit, Spiegelman logged an expert prediction on Tuesday for Allen to commit to the Oklahoma Sooners.

It's not as if this would be a huge surprise, though, as Allen has already taken two visits with Oklahoma. That includes an official one during their 24-17 win over the Auburn Tigers.
He was clearly impressed, telling Rivals' Steve Wiltfong, "I loved the love all the coaches showed me. What keeps exciting me is the fact that it is SEC ball and the coaches keep telling me I belong there and deserve to play in that type of atmosphere so it just makes me more excited to be there."
To stay competitive in the SEC, a talented roster is a necessity. The Sooners have done what they can to keep up with other teams in the conference.
Their 2026 recruiting class consists of 19 commits, ranking No. 10 in the SEC and No. 20 in the nation. Adding a talent such as Allen would give them a nice boost.
He could be just their third wide receiver, joining four-star Daniel Odom and three-star Zizi Okwufulueze.
However, until an official decision is announced, Colorado should not be ruled out in this late-cycle battle.
