Following the College Football Playoff quarterfinals, only four teams remain in the chase for a national championship.
Two of those teams include the Texas Longhorns and the Ohio State Buckeyes, who will meet at AT&T Stadium on Friday for the 89th Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic.
However, there have been concerns about the Cotton Bowl's status with a winter storm about to come into the Dallas/Arlington area. According to Weather.com, 1-3 inches of snow and some rain is expected on Thursday going into Friday morning, with icing seen as a possibility.
Although the game at AT&T Stadium will be played indoors, this led to some fearing a delay in the semifinal game due to travel risk. Bowl officials even met with emergency management, College Football Playoff leadership, law enforcement and meteorologists to discuss the impending storm, per On3 Sports.
After further discussion, the Cotton Bowl seems to be a full go for the originally scheduled 7:30 p.m. ET. AT&T Stadium and the Cotton Bowl released an official statement providing the update.
"We continue to monitor weather reports, and over the last 24 hours, the forecast for later this week has improved according to the National Weather Service. We have been meeting routinely with city officials, the Director of Transportation for North Texas and the College Football Playoff. Should the forecast shift, we are prepared for all contingencies. North Texas highways are already being brined and plans are in place to assure a safe environment for everyone in and around AT&T Stadium on game day. The teams arrive tomorrow, as planned, and the 2025 CFP Semifinal at the 89th Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic will kick off on Friday evening as scheduled."

Early in the week, the Cotton Bowl released an initial statement regarding the potential concerns of the upcoming winter weather. But now those concerns seem to be put to bed.
"We are routinely monitoring weather reports and we are in close contact with AT&T Stadium and local officials. We always have plans for inclement weather. Should conditions warrant it, we will communicate to everyone attending and connected with this year’s Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic.”
Texas is coming off a 39-31 double-overtime win in the Peach Bowl against the Arizona State Sun Devils. They also defeated the Clemson Tigers in the first round of the playoffs. Meanwhile, Ohio State has looked like the best team in the CFP through two rounds, beating the Tennessee Volunteers 44-17 and the Oregon Ducks 41-21 in the Rose Bowl.
The winner between Texas and Ohio State will move on to the national championship game, where it will face the winner of the Orange Bowl between the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
