Well, Surgent Studios and Palworld’s Pocketpair have teased a first-ever, for them at least, game in the horror genre called Dead Take. This game will be Pocket Pair’s first published title following the insanely successful launch of Palworld, you know, the game that put Pocketpair on the map when it came to upcoming indie games. Yeah, the one that made the Pokemon devs mad. It will also be Surgent Studios’ next game following the successful launch of Tales of Kenzera: ZAU, which you can now get on Game Pass.
You can actually watch the teaser trailer now—but let’s see what they have in store for us.

So, in Dead Take, you’re in the entertainment industry—and as everyone knows, the entertainment industry is nothing but a gilded façade that covers some of history’s darkest secrets (even modern ones if we’re being honest). The player’s job is to try and expose some of those darkest secrets.
We can’t wait to see what type of bad endings they have for the game—if they’re going to stay true to real life. (Hint: some of the revealers of secrets do not have happy endings.)
We can look forward to a great narrative experience, and there will be an impressive list of actors that should be revealed to the public in the coming weeks. But right now they’re being very secretive. Trying to get into the mindset of Dead Take, we see!
“We’re being secretive for a reason,” said Abubakar Salim, the CEO of Surgent Studios. “The subject matter of this game is delicate, and it hits close to home. When it comes out—and it won’t be long until it does—I want players to think, ‘I can’t believe they actually did this.’”
Dead Take is set to release via Steam on PC this year, published by Pocket Pair Publishing (that was a mouthful), the same team that published Palworld and Craftopia. If you want to follow them for more in-depth updates, you can follow them on X, BlueSky, Instagram, or visit the official web page.
