Deion Sanders Doesn’t Hold Back About Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani

Shohei Ohtani, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ two-way phenom, delivered an unforgettable performance in Game 4 of the NLCS, etching his name into MLB postseason lore.

His masterful pitching included 10 strikeouts across more than six scoreless innings, but he also dominated at the plate, going three-for-three with three towering home runs, one of which soared out of Dodger Stadium.

The sports world has been buzzing about Ohtani’s historic night, with former two-sport legend Deion Sanders weighing in. Known as Prime Time, Sanders excelled as both a wide receiver and cornerback in the NFL while also playing professional baseball.

Now leading the Colorado Buffaloes as a collegiate football coach, Sanders spoke about the three-time MVP during his weekly press conference.

“Can they just hand him the MVP during the game?” Sanders said. “That is ridiculous, man.”

Ohtani’s performance has only strengthened his case for the National League MVP, a regular-season award, but Sanders’ enthusiasm underscores the magnitude of his impact. When asked if Ohtani’s Game 4 outing ranks as the greatest single-game performance across any sport, Sanders offered high praise.

“I’ve seen some wonderful things that have transpired in sports. It’s hard for me to say that, but that is unbelievable,” Sanders said. “He’s doing something that’s unfathomable.”

Sanders, a Hall of Famer, earned eight Pro Bowl selections, two Super Bowl titles, and a Defensive Player of the Year award during his illustrious NFL career. He was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s All-1990s Team as both a cornerback and punt returner.

Remarkably, while dominating football from 1989 to 2001, Sanders also played nine MLB seasons, including a standout 1997 campaign with 56 stolen bases. He remains the only athlete to compete in both a Super Bowl and a World Series.

While a Super Bowl isn’t in Ohtani’s future, he’s gearing up for his second career World Series appearance as the Dodgers face the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday.
