The Baltimore Ravens surprised many by signing former Vanderbilt star QB Diego Pavia to an undrafted free agent contract this week. But Ravens QB Lamar Jackson might not be as thrilled following the reemergence of an old comment Pavia made about him.
In an old interview, Pavia was asked who he felt was the better college quarterback between Jackson and Johnny Manziel. But Pavia refused to acknowledge the question and simply stated that he's better than both of them.
"Neither. Me," Pavia said repeatedly.

As you might expect, NFL fans and especially Ravens fans were not thrilled to see such a lack of humility from Pavia:
"He needs to be humbled. An attitude adjustment is clearly needed," one user on X declared.
"Ravens desperate for signing this fool. Ravens the only team to miss a gimme chip shot field goal to make the playoffs," wrote another.
"Bro is nowhere near Lamar nor even Tyler Huntley. I hope Hendrickson or anyone in that matter humbles him and gives him the worse welcome to the NFL moment if he even gets one," a third wrote.
"Gotta like a guy with some confidence. But this kind of delusional commentary isn't going to make him any friends in Baltimore. He might know how to read a Playbook or a Defense but he sure as (expletive) doesn't know how to read a room."
"Rescind the deal now."
Diego Pavia had a more unique route to college football stardom than most. He spent two years at the New Mexico Military Institute, followed by another two years at New Mexico State before transferring to Vanderbilt in 2024. He quickly became a national sensation for leading the Commodores to an historic upset win over Alabama.
The following year was his masterpiece. He led Vanderbilt to one of their best seasons ever, including their best final AP ranking since the 1940s. For his efforts, Pavia was named an All-American and the SEC Offensive Player of the Year. He was the runner-up in the Heisman Trophy voting to Fernando Mendoza.
But NFL scouts were not at all impressed by Pavia as an NFL prospect. He was expected to be a late-round pick at best and wound up going undrafted entirely, embarrassing himself a little bit with a draft party he held in the process. Pavia would wind up being the first Heisman Trophy finalist in over a decade to go undrafted.
The Ravens took a chance on Pavia by signing him to a contract at all. Hopefully he doesn't make them regret the decision with his attitude.
