Diego Pavia is going to get his best shot to succeed with the Baltimore Ravens. Days after receiving a training camp invite, the team decided to sign him.

Confidence has never been Pavia’s issue. That has led to moments that are iconic and others that have worked against him. Now that he is officially part of the Ravens, one of his less-than-flattering moments has resurfaced.

One of his old clips has resurfaced as he steps into a quarterback room led by a two-time MVP, Lamar Jackson. Shortly after news of his signing broke, a viral clip from the Heisman Trophy weekend began making the rounds again.

When asked to choose between two elite names, Diego Pavia picked himself. In the video, a Daily Mail Sport USA reporter was participating in a bracket challenge with Pavia and asked him who was the best college football player of all time: Johnny Manziel or Lamar Jackson.

“Neither,” he said. “Me.”

Diego Pavia Signs Three-Year Deal

The Baltimore Ravens didn’t need to see a tryout from undrafted Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia. They signed the polarizing Heisman Trophy runner-up to a three-year deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

He was scheduled to try out for the team this weekend, but Baltimore is signing him in advance.

Two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson remains the team’s starter entering the 2026 season and beyond. There is no threat of Pavia unseating him anytime soon. His best bet is to work his way up the depth chart to get the backup quarterback spot.

The team had only Tyler Huntley on the roster before the deal for Pavia, who made unfortunate draft history over the weekend. He became the first Heisman Trophy finalist since 2014 to not hear his name called through seven rounds in Pittsburgh.

Now, he gets an opportunity to not just show the Ravens what he’s got, but also develop under the three-year deal.
