Dinosaurs Will Die is selling three versions of the late Jeff Keenan’s pro model snowboard, and donating the proceeds to the co-founder’s surviving family.
The Kwon “Keenan vs. Keenan” is available on the Dinosaurs Will Die website. It’s on sale for $424. The Kwon “Tar Pit” has also been re-released, with the same goal of donating proceeds to Keenan’s family. That board has already sold out.
The “Keenan vs. Keenan” is available in two sizes: a 158 cm, which features a white base, and a 152 cm, which has a black base. The boards were designed by Keenan, and feature artwork from artist Jesse Williams.
“Take every board, old and new, blow them up, then use all the best parts to create the ultimate all-mountain machine … we present to you, the Kwon,” the website says. “No spy work needed, intel for designing this board came from years of riding, which was then tweaked and tuned until the exact desire was achieved.”
The board features DWD’s action camber, which means positive camber in between the bindings, reverse camber in the tip and tail, and flat camber in between the two. The board is a 7 out of 10 flex, elliptical sidecut, and a sintered base. The board is directional, and is meant to both roll through the terrain park and attack steep and deep lines.
Keenan died in a British Columbian avalanche back in March. Alex Pashley, and Jason Remple were also killed in the slide.
Keenan, 44, cofounded Dinosaurs Will Die with Sean Genovese. He is survived by his fiancé Leanne Pelosi and their son Khyber. Pashley, 45, was the global sports marketing manager at The North Face. He is survived by his wife Erin.
Remple, 53, started Stellar Heli Skiing in 2005 with his wife Kerry Luckey. They bought the Kaslo Hotel in 2022, the Sun reports.
The avalanche rocked the snowboard world. Pashley and Keenan were beloved members of the community who were not just essential members as riders, but as professionals in the industry. Tributes poured in – and continue to pour in – from the likes of Jody Wachniak, Jeff Pensiero, Selema Masekela, Darrah Reid, Parker Duke, and so many more.
“Jeff was just setting into his job as a super dad,” Pensiero said. “He was a legend of snowboarding, helping others to reach their potential while reaching his own. His love for Leanne was infectious, his work in snowboarding won’t be forgotten. Rest in powder Jeff.”
