The Philadelphia Eagles are scheduled to report to NFL training camp on Tuesday, July 22, officially kicking off preparations for the 2025 season. However, there is a chance they could be without at least one of their rookies when camp starts, if he chooses to hold out while still negotiating the terms of his contract.
Philly's 2025 second-round pick, Andrew Mukuba, remains unsigned, though he's not the only one.
30 of the 32 second-round picks are unsigned because of a disagreement over guaranteed money, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
And Los Angeles Chargers rookie wide receiver Tre Harris is the first unsigned second-rounder to officially begin holding out.
This is noteworthy as Eagles second-round pick, S Drew Mukuba, also remains unsigned. https://t.co/o7vTSQtqbs

Handing out guaranteed deals to second-round picks didn't become a thing until this past May when the Houston Texans gave Jayden Higgins, the 34th overall pick, a fully guaranteed contract, marking the first ever for a second-rounder. The Cleveland Browns followed up by doing the same for Carson Schwesinger, who was taken 33rd overall.
It will be interesting to see how Howie Roseman handles this situation. One can only assume he ends up making Mukuba happy, especially given that safety is a position they need right now after they traded C.J. Gardner-Johnson to the Houston Texans.
However, if Mukuba has still not signed a new deal by next week, then he won’t be obligated to report on Tuesday.
Mukuba arrives in Philly after an impressive final season at Texas in 2024, where he tallied 69 tackles, 12 pass breakups, five interceptions, and a forced fumble for the Longhorns.
