The ECHL Department of Player Safety has announced that they’ve suspended Worcester Railers forwards Anthony Callin and Riley Piercey for their actions in Saturday’s game vs Reading Royals. This is a huge loss for a Royals team that has already gotten off to a rough start, going 1-4-0-1 in their first six games. It will be interesting to see if players are able to step up and get the Railers out of the basement of the North Division.
Worcester Railers forward Anthony Callin is suspended four games and fined an undisclosed amount for his actions in Saturday’s game. Callin would get the maylay started with a slash on Reading’s Austin Swankler. He would walk away with a major and a game misconduct for slashing. In six games this season, the Railers assistant captain has a goal and an assist. The Middleton, Wisconsin native is eligible to return on November 15th vs Trois-Rivieres Lions.
Worcester Railers forward Riley Piercey is suspended seven games and fined an undisclosed amount for his actions in Saturday’s game. Piercey comes away with the biggest punishment as he left the bench to join the chaos. He would also drop the gloves, as he was given a major for fighting, along with a game misconduct. Leaving the bench does come with a minimum of a five-game suspension. In six games this season, the Mississauga, Ontario native has one assist. The 23-year-old winger is eligible to return on November 22nd vs Greensboro Gargoyles.
