ECHL: Greenville Swamp Rabbits Fire Kyle Mountain

The Greenville Swamp Rabbits have announced that they’ve fired Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Kyle Mountain, who spent the last two seasons with the team. Mountain spent his first year with the team as an assistant coach. In his first full season as Head Coach, the Swamp Rabbits went 27-37-6-2 and finished last in the South Division. This is the first time since the 2018-19 season that Greenville has missed the Kelly Cup Playoffs. The Swamp Rabbits announced that the search for a new head coach will begin immediately.

Prior to coaching, Kyle Mountain spent three seasons at the NCAA level, including three years at the University of Vermont and a year at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. In 60 NCAA games, he put up two goals and five assists for seven points. The 34-year-old began his coaching career at Neumann University. He spent two seasons as the assistant coach before spending six seasons as the head coach of the Knights. The Knights made the playoffs in four of the five seasons Mountain was there as the head coach.

Mountain is the second head coach in the ECHL to be fired, joining Jason Payne, who spent six seasons with the Cincinnati Cyclones.
