Not every MLB player gets to have his own bobblehead day, and not every MLB player writes their name into history by hitting for the cycle. Minnesota Twins All-Star center fielder Byron Buxton did both over the weekend, going 5-for-5 in a 12-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates and completing the first cycle of his career with a majestic 427-foot home run to straightaway center field. The bomb was his 21st of the season (already three more than he hit in 2024) and served as a preview of the show Buxton will try to put on at the 2025 Home Run Derby.
“It’s just special,” he said about achieving the historic feat on his own bobblehead day. “With the crowd behind me, especially once you get it, to see everyone jump up the way they did…it’s a day I won’t forget.”
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Buxton’s home run-capped cycle was the first cycle in the history of the Twins home Target Field and the 350th in MLB history. With that being said, how many of the players to hit the most recent cycle for each MLB franchise can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
