The Reading Royals have acquired defenseman Davis Bunz from the Orlando Solar Bears in exchange for future considerations. Bunz, 27, played in five games with the Solar Bears this season, with his last game coming on November 24th.

The Middleton, Wisconsin, native is in his third season in the ECHL after spending his first two seasons with the Wheeling Nailers. In 116 games with the Nailers, he put up 13 goals and 41 assists for 54 points. He had two goals and three assists for five points during the 2024 Kelly Cup Playoffs. Last season, Bunz played overseas in the EIHL with the Nottingham Panthers. During his time with the Panthers, he put up a goal and 14 assists for 15 points in 53 games. He would add a goal and an assist in three playoff games as the Panthers won the EIHL Championship.

Junior and College Career

Prior to going pro, Bunz spent parts of three seasons in the USHL and BCHL. In 21 games in the USHL with the Sioux Falls Stampede and Central Illinois Flyers, he had two goals and seven assists for nine points. During his time in the BCHL with the Chilliwack Chiefs, he had nine goals and 18 assists for 27 points in 47 games. He would add three goals and five assists for eight points in 21 playoff games.

Bunz would then take the NCAA route, playing parts of five seasons at Providence College. In 144 games with the Friars, he had a goal and 16 assists for 17 points.
