Toledo Walleye defenseman Riley McCourt is heading back overseas, this time to Sweden to join Leksands IF (HA), after spending the majority of the 2025-26 season in Toledo. In 70 games with the Walleye, he put up seven goals and 46 assists for 53 points. McCourt had seven assists in 12 games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs. He also saw two games in the AHL with the Belleville Senators. McCourt previously played overseas during the 2024-25 season, where he had four goals and 18 assists for 22 points in 50 games with the Augsburger Panthers (DEL). This is the second big loss for the Walleye, after forward Conlan Keenan announced his retirement.
The St. Catherines, Ontario, native has spent three of his five seasons in the ECHL with the Walleye. Over the course of his three years with Toledo, he’s put up 21 goals and 110 assists for 131 points in 177 games. He would add a goal and 19 assists for 20 points in 37 career Kelly Cup Playoff games with Toledo. McCourt has put up 33 goals and 133 assists for 166 points in 243 ECHL games with the Wichita Thunder, Newfound Growlers, and Toledo Walleye. In 43 career Kelly Cup Playoff games, he has a goal and 21 assists for 22 points in 43 games. At the AHL level, he’s put up a goal and an assist in 13 games while spending time with the Toronto Marlies, Colorado Eagles, and Belleville Senators.
