Ed Orgeron wasn’t about to let an Alabama Crimson Tide fan slide with a casual “Roll Tide.”
The former LSU Tigers head coach was out for a run near the beach when a fan spotted him and decided to test the waters. In a video posted to Instagram, the fan approached Orgeron and said, “Hey, coach, sorry to bother you. Roll Tide.”
At first, Orgeron stopped, thinking the fan wanted a picture. But after passing him, he turned back and asked, “Really? What was that about?”
The fan quickly tried to smooth things over, saying, “I have respect for you as a person. I just was being funny.”
Orgeron wasn’t having it. “I wouldn’t say, ‘Go Tigers’ to you after taking a picture with you,” he responded, making it clear that rivalries still matter, even off the field.
The interaction didn’t escalate beyond that, but Orgeron made sure to get his point across before wishing the fan a good day. He even asked where he was from, and when the fan said Tuscaloosa, Orgeron nodded knowingly.
The video quickly gained traction online, with many noting how Orgeron still carries the intensity that made him a beloved figure at LSU. His time in Baton Rouge was defined by passion, and moments like this show that his connection to the program hasn’t faded.
Orgeron spent six seasons as LSU’s head coach, compiling a 51-20 record and leading the Tigers to a national championship in 2019. His tenure included some heated battles with Alabama, and while he’s no longer on the sidelines, it’s clear that the rivalry still runs deep.
