Notre Dame has landed yet another elite player in the 2026 class by getting a commitment from Great Bend (Kan.) High School tight end Ian Premer. The elite tight end picked Notre Dame over Kansas State and Iowa State.

Premer is a unique tight end that possesses outstanding size at 6-5 and 225 pounds, but also high level athleticism that makes him a dominant pass catcher. Premer is more than just a modern pass game weapon, as the Kansas native is also a quality blocker that will only improve in that area as he gets older and stronger.

Over the last two seasons, Premer has caught 62 passes for 1,079 yards and 17 touchdowns for Great Bend. He also carried the ball 37 times for 260 yards out of the backfield. His combination of ball skills, athleticism and playmaking ability is what makes him arguably the best tight end in the 2026 class.

Premer is the second tight end to commit to Notre Dame this week, with Ohio standout Preston Fryzel pledging to the Irish on Monday. Notre Dame wanted two tight ends in this class due and the Irish nailed it with this dynamic one-two punch.

Premer is ranked as the nation's No. 24 overall player in the country and the No. 3 tight end by On3. He's also ranked as the No. 3 tight end by 247Sports and ESPN, who ranked him No. 43 overall and No. 60 overall nationally.

Premer is the 22nd player to commit to Notre Dame. He joins Florida quarterback Noah Grubbs, Texas running backs Javian Osborne, Georgia running back Jonaz Walton, Florida wide receiver Dylan Faison, Georgia wide receiver Bubba Frazier, Fryzel, Pennsylvania offensive linemen Tyler Merrill and Grayson McKeogh, Michigan offensive linemen Ben Nichols, Gregory Patrick and Sullivan Garvin, Connecticut offensive lineman Charlie Thom, North Carolina ends Ebenezer Ewetade and Rodney Dunham, Texas defensive tackle Tiki Hola, North Carolina linebacker Thomas Davis Jr., Ohio linebacker Jakobe Clapper, Pennsylvania defensive back Joey O'Brien Florida cornerback Ayden Pouncey, Maryland cornerback Khary Adams and Tennessee cornerback Chaston Smith.
