Classic ESPN Show Is Getting Canceled (1:15)

ESPN's longtime daily sports debate show, "Around The Horn," is ending later this year.

The Worldwide Leader made the decision in late 2024 to end the show, hosted by Tony Reali. It's been on the air since November of 2002 and has featured some legendary sports reporters, including Bob Ryan, Woody Paige, Tim Cowlishaw and others. The show will be taken off of the air by summer 2025.

It's unclear what ESPN will be doing to replace it. It's possible that "Pardon The Interruption" will go to one hour or that ESPN will create a new show in its place.

One popular ESPN personality has since revealed that she had actually been banned from appearing on the show.

Sarah Spain, who works at espnW and hosts "Good Game with Sarah Spain" on iHeart Radio, revealed that a former ESPN executive banned her from appearing on the show.

“I haven’t been on Around the Horn in a year-and-a-half or two years. There was a no-longer-at-the-company executive who didn’t want me to appear on it anymore for reasons never expressed to anyone. But I am very bummed about the show. I think it is unique. I think it’s really smart, really funny. I think it’s different than what’s out there. And it allows for a variety of voices and perspectives. It allows for a ton of different stories and some of the things that aren’t covered everywhere else. Yeah, I think it’s a real bummer and a really dumb move to cancel it," she told Awful Announcing.

Still, Spain, who made dozens of appearances on the show, is saddened by its ending.

She had some good memories on the show, too, including dressing up as Moira Rose from "Schitt's Creek" for Halloween.

“I wanted to be on Saturday Night Live. That was my dream job my whole life and still is. The Halloween episodes always gave me a chance to flex that muscle. When I was Moira Rose, I took the time to learn the accent. My makeup artist found the makeup artist from Schitt’s Creek to make me look the most like her. The feedback I got was very rewarding. It was fun.”
