The Braves farm system has been ranked near the bottom of the league for several years now, which makes it that much more remarkable that they continue to pump out significant contributors from the prospect ranks each season. The latest examples being Drake Baldwin and Hurston Waldrep.
Befor them, it was Spencer Schwellenbach, who followed in the footsteps of Spencer Strider and Michael Harris II. Next up, at least according to ESPN, is Cam Caminiti and Didier Fuentes. Both were recently featured on Kiley McDaniel’s updated list of baseball’s top 100 prospects.
When the 2025 campaign began, Didier Fuentes was 19-years-old in High-A Rome. A few months later, he was making his debut for the major-league club after the Braves were struck by a bevy of injuries.
It’s unfortunate that short stint in the majors is all many fans will know about Fuentes. He made four starts for the Braves, recording a gaudy 13.85 ERA, but that shouldn’t take away from what’s been an otherwise splendid season. Since returning to Gwinnett, Fuentes boasts a 3.63 ERA with an 11.7 K/9. This is a young man that is oozing with potential and has all the makings of a major-league starter. He could be a piece of the Braves rotation as early as 2026.
The Braves first-round selection from last year, Cam Caminiti is widely viewed as the Braves top prospect. The southpaw was the #1 rated prep arm in his class and was just 17 when the Braves selected him 24th overall. His fastball can already touch the hig h-90s, and he features a wide array of secondary offerings that are considered plus pitches in his slider, changeup, and curveball.
So far in his first professional season, Caminiti has recorded a 2.44 ERA with a 12.0 K/9 in low-A Augusta. With the way the Braves have pushed their talented young arms through the organization in recent years, next season could be a really fun one to watch for the southpaw out of Scottsdale, Arizona.
Both of these arms should continue to move up this list in 2026, and they could be joined by some other Braves prospects in the near future. One name that should be considered right now is JR Ritchie, who has put together a magnificent 2025 campaign. Owen Murphy, who was taken just ahead of Ritchie in the first round of the 2022 MLB Draft, could also insert his name into the conversation next season. He has come back from Tommy John surgery with a vengeance, posting a 0.41 ERA over his first five starts.
