Fabio Capello Names Serie A Title Favourites: ‘Napoli, Then Inter Milan’

Fabio Capello feels that Napoli are the favourites to retain the Serie A title, and Inter Milan are just after them.

The legendary former coach gave his thoughts in the SportWeek insert in today’s print edition of the Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Today, the Serie A season begins. Last seas on’s champions Napoli are in action against Sassuolo. Meanwhile, the likes of Roma and AC Milan also begin their own campaigns.

Inter will have to wait until Monday to kick off their season.

The Nerazzurri’s match against Torino is the final match of the weekend.

For Inter, the goal will certainly be to avenge last season’s final day failure in the title race.

Meanwhile, Napoli will feel the pressure to mount a title defense that’s much better than their disastrous 2023-24 campaign.

Then, teams like Juventus, Atalanta, and Milan among others will all be hoping for improvements from last season.

Capello: “Napoli Favourites For Serie A Title, Then Inter”

Former coach Fabio Capello named Napoli as the favourites to win the title this season.

“And not just because they’re the reigning Italian champions,” he said.

“The moves that they made in the transfer market this summer have been absolutely perfect,” he declared.

“They’ve managed to improve in a way that has seen them rise up the prediction tables compared to last season.”

Then, Capello named Inter as his second favourites.

“I’ve known Chivu since he was a player,” the former coach said. “And I’m sure that he has the personality to raise Inter’s game.”

Capello said that Inter are “a team that just need to be reawakened after the brutal end to last season.”

“They have the players,” he said. “It will be sufficient to just give them that mental boost and convince them to return to normal.”
