Florida Atlantic is looking for a new head coach but it's not going to be Ray Lewis.
There have been rumors regarding Lewis and him being a candidate for the job but the school threw cold water on that pretty quickly on Wednesday.
“It is not happening," the school told Ross Dellenger.
Pretty blunt intel from the folks involved in the coaching search at FAU about the ESPN report that Ray Lewis is a candidate for coach: “It is not happening.”

ESPN reported on Wednesday that Lewis was a candidate for the position before school officials shot it down.
FAU is trying to replace Tom Herman after he got fired on Monday following two terrible seasons. He went 6-16 as head coach over those two seasons and was 0-6 in conference play this season.
Chad Lunsford is serving as the interim head coach for the rest of the season before the program finds a full-time replacement for Herman.
Before Herman took over FAU, he coached at Texas for four seasons and compiled a 32-18 record before he was let go. Herman also coached at Houston for two seasons and compiled a 22-4 record.
Even though Lewis appears not to be a candidate for FAU, there's still a chance he will become a coach at some point. During his playing career, he won two Super Bowls and played in the league for 17 years before retiring after the 2012 season.
Lewis was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018 and will forever be one of the best linebackers of all time.
We'll see if he becomes a top coaching candidate for a different job at some point.
