Florida State Seminoles aren't giving up on one four-star recruit even after he's already committed to a blue-blood

When you are trying to build your program back up to what it should be, a prestigious football program, then you have to recruit well. That means that the Florida State Seminoles have to push for guys that can be program changers, and they have to try and flip guys more often than not. That’s just what this current era of recruiting is.

They did that with this last cycle. They flipped former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback commit Kevin Sperry on National Signing Day, and Sperry now looks like he could be QB2 in 2025, or is at least battling for that position on the depth chart. And, even other programs tried to flip FSU’s commits since they seen they were having a bad season last year.

That’s all part of the recruiting business. Once a recruit is committed, it doesn’t mean he won’t or can’t change his mind until pen is put to paper.

Now, they are trying to flip a commit from Georgia, and they have to feel confident about their chances.

Seminoles still trying to flip four-star RB Jae Lamar

Jae Lamar is already committed and has found his college team, for now. The Seminoles like him a lot, and they recruited the four-star heavily throughout his process. And, they aren’t done recruiting him, either. They were in his top-five schools, but because the 2026 RB is from Georgia, it made sense that he would choose the Bulldogs.

But, the Seminoles aren’t giving up, and he kind of knows that.

“Since committing, certain schools are still trying to get after me,” Lamar told On3. “I’m more relaxed now, and it’s not as overwhelming as it was, but not all of the schools have given up. Miami and Auburn are still really recruiting me Florida State and Clemson are recruiting me some too. Colorado has gotten on me too.”

Lamar has some of the best contact-balance in the 2026 class from a RB perspective. That, and his ability to change direction are what makes him so elite. The Seminoles want him, and his ability to play a big role earlier in his career may be enticing to Lamar. Where, at Georgia, getting on the field as a freshman may be a bit more difficult.
