Will Sheppard was expected to make an impact for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, the start of his NFL career hit an unexpected snag after reportedly failing a physical.
After being released by the team on May 9, he has been looking elsewhere for his next opportunity. It appears the former Colorado standout received a another shot with the Denver Broncos.
Sheppard was in minicamp at Dove Valley on Tuesday. He played his final college season at Colorado after transferring from Vanderbilt. As a four-year starter for the Commodores and Buffaloes, he finished with 200 receptions for 2,688 yards and 27 TDs.
Sheppard played a big role for Deion Sanders and the Buffs last season. He was one of the top targets for Shedeur Sanders with 621 yards and six touchdowns.
"He’s a big-time receiver, Coach Prime said about Sheppard at CU's Pro Day. "A 50-50 ball, he’s going to get that more times than not. And I just love his character and what he brings to the table, what he brings to the practice field, day in and day out. He’s a tremendous asset."
Sheppard will attempt to make the 90-man roster going into preseason. He'll try to find his way around Courtland Sutton, Devaughn Vele, Troy Franklin, Marvin Mims Jr., and others.
