The journey isn't over for former Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Matt Corral.
On Thursday, it was reported by James Larsen of Pro Football Newsroom that Corral had re-signed with the UFL's Birmingham Stallions after helping lead them to a win over the Michigan Panthers in the postseason of the 2024 campaign.
Following the spring UFL season, Corral signed a deal with the NFL's Minnesota Vikings in August, but the franchise waived him later that month. Now, he is heading back to Birmingham to give it another go with the Stallions.
In 10 games with the Stallions last season, Corral threw 494 passing yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions and rushed for 94 yards. His best moment came in the postseason win over Michigan where when he came off the bench to complete 85 percent of his passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns.
A multi-year starter for the Rebels, Corral threw for 8,287 yards and 57 touchdowns across four seasons, two of which were under Lane Kiffin in 2020 and 2021. He also rushed for 1,338 yards and 18 more scores while guiding Ole Miss to its first 10-win regular season in program history in 2021.
That season saw Corral's final collegiate game cut short in the Allstate Sugar Bowl with an ankle injury in the first half. Ole Miss would go on to lose that game to Baylor 21-7.

The No. 3 Oregon Ducks are gearing up for a matchup in Eugene against the No. 7 Indiana Hoosiers. ESPN's College GameDay will be on campus for the matchup between two undefeated teams that will have massive Big Ten implications. Indiana could be the Ducks' biggest regular season test and many bettors want in on the action. Oregon Ducks Currently Tabbed As A 7.5 Favorite Over Indiana According to Fanduel Sportsbook, Oregon is currently a 7.5-point favorite over the Hoosiers. It is interesting to note that Oregon opened up as a 10.5 favorite against Indiana, but the line has now dropped to 7.5, indicating that a lot of the public's money is coming in on Indiana to cover the spread, or for the Hoosiers to win outright. The over/under is set at 55.5, which means Fanduel is expecting a shootout at Autzen Stadium. The odds are currently favoring the under 55.5, which is set at -115 for the game to fall just short of that number. The over of 55.5 is set at -105. It is interesting to note that the 7.5 line set by Fanduel is favored slightly towards Indiana, covering the spread at -112. Fanduel currently has -108 odds for Oregon to cover the spread, which would be the Ducks' third game in a row that they have covered the spread. The Hoosiers are 1-0 against the spread against ranked opponents this season, covering the spread against Illinois when they defeated the Illini 63-10 in Bloomington. Indiana’s only game they failed to cover was their 22.5-point spread against Old Dominion in week one of the 2025 season. Ducks Season Total Number Dropped On Sportsbooks Prior To 2025 Season Prior to the beginning of the 2025 season, the Ducks' season win total was set at 10.5 according to Fanduel. That number dropped in the days before the season began, all the way down to 9.5, meaning the public believed that Oregon could very possibly lose three games this season. Oregon has covered the spread in every game when at Autzen Stadium, with their only non-cover this season coming on the road at Northwestern. The Ducks have a great chance to notch another win towards covering their 9.5 win total that was set prior to the year. The Ducks are 4-1 against the spread in their five games this season, and are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games played on a Saturday. Betters who have done their research may be enticed to bet the over. The total set by Fanduel has gone over in 11 of the Hoosiers' last 13 games on the road. Bengals' Zac Taylor explains shocking Joe Flacco move for Packers game
Roughly 24 hours after outsiders learned that the Cincinnati Bengals were acquiring veteran quarterback Joe Flacco from the Cleveland Browns, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor confirmed that Flacco will start over Jake Browning when 2-3 Cincinnati plays at the Green Bay Packers (2-1-1) this coming Sunday. While speaking with media members, Taylor explained that somewhat surprising decision. Why Zac Taylor believes he can get Joe Flacco "up to speed quickly" "He's already spent a lot of time meeting with us, getting up to speed, so I feel really good about where he's at," Taylor said about Flacco, per Dave Clark of the Cincinnati Enquirer. "You just know him. ...Very comfortable with his style, concepts he's good at, things that we do. All of the terminology, there's a carryover, more so than I would have anticipated. So I feel like we can get him up to speed quickly." Flacco lost three of four September starts with the Browns before the Super Bowl XLVII Most Valuable Player was benched in favor of rookie Dillon Gabriel. According to Pro Football Reference stats, Flacco began Wednesday ranked last in the NFL among qualified players with a 60.3 passer rating for the ongoing season. Additionally, he's 28th out of 32 signal-callers with a 36.7 adjusted QBR. That said, Flacco is a 40-year-old who has seen every defensive concept an opposing coordinator could and will throw his way. Back on Sept. 21, he helped the Browns earn a 13-10 win over the Packers in downtown Cleveland. Zac Taylor likes that Joe Flacco faced this Packers defense in September "It's different than a young quarterback coming in, trying to learn the system and understand what a defense is trying to do to try to challenge you," Taylor added about his decision to start Flacco versus the Packers. "Not only that, but he's played Green Bay this year, so he's already gone through a week of prep. ...Now the communication and the weekly rhythm is maybe different and unique, but he's already prepared for this opponent. So he gets a chance to refresh himself on that, while at the same time just learning our system and our terminology...and how we operate." Shortly after Taylor made his comments, ESPN BET had the Bengals listed as massive 14.5-point underdogs against Green Bay. Perhaps that line and the fact that he was discarded by Cleveland will give Flacco some extra motivation heading into the showdown that will take place at Lambeau Field.
Brewers' Pat Murphy Announces Unexpected Decision Before Cubs Game
The Milwaukee Brewers enter Wednesday with a chance to advance to the NLCS for the first time since 2018. They followed up a historic regular season, winning a franchise-record 97 games, with a strong start to the postseason by taking the first two games of the NLDS against the Chicago Cubs. Manager Pat Murphy has continued to make the right calls and get the most out of his roster. The Brewers have excelled in all phases this year, showcasing their offensive firepower by scoring 16 runs across games 1 and 2. Pitcher Quinn Priester will get the start for the Brewers for Game 3, who has broken out with Milwaukee after struggling for the first two seasons of his career. As the series transitions to Wrigley Field, Murphy made a few notable adjustments to his starting lineup. After rolling out the same starting nine for the first two matchups, Murphy removed Andrew Vaughn for Jake Bauers, which has been a recurring theme with both interchanging at first base depending on the opposition’s starting pitcher. However, Murphy also unexpectedly decided to place Brandon Lockridge in the lineup in place of Blake Perkins. Lockridge barely made the postseason roster over Rhys Hoskins and has not started a game since Aug. 28. While Murphy is likely leaning into the platoon advantage by stacking left-handed bats against Chicago’s right-handed starter Jameson Taillon, it’s still surprising to see Lockridge in the starting lineup. He’s a left-handed hitter with limited experience and minimal offensive production, posting a .231 batting average and .574 OPS over 67 games. His value lies almost entirely in his defense. Perkins, another defensive-minded option, bats right-handed and offers little more at the plate. Meanwhile, Isaac Collins continues to sit despite being the most balanced choice. A switch hitter, Collins would still give Milwaukee the platoon edge from the left side and brings far more offensive upside than Lockridge. In 130 games this season, Collins hit .263 with a .368 on-base percentage, a .779 OPS, nine home runs and 16 stolen bases while providing serviceable defense in the outfield. Murphy’s decision to start Lockridge over Collins raises questions as Milwaukee looks to close out the series on the road.
Blue Jays make questionable decision for Game 4 starter
After taking a commanding 2-0 lead in the American League Division Series over the New York Yankees, the Toronto Blue Jays failed to complete the sweep after a historic comeback from the Yankees. After pulling their starter, Shane Bieber, after 54 pitches in 2.2 innings in Game 3, the Blue Jays' bullpen failed to hold things together. Now, they'll turn to their bullpen to try to clinch the series in Game 4. John Schneider makes a questionable decision on Blue Jays' Game 4 starter Deciding to go with their bullpen for Game 4 to help advance them into the American League Championship Series, Schneider and the Blue Jays will rely on Louis Varland to start things off for the Blue Jays, with MLB.com’s Keegan Matheson confirming Varland will be the opener. It's worth noting that Varland gave up a pivotal, game-tying home run to Aaron Judge in Game 3. The Blue Jays acquired Varland and first baseman/designated hitter Ty France from the Minnesota Twins at the trade deadline. Varland had performed well in this series (1.2 innings, one hit) before Judge's devastating blast. Varland picked up a blown save and a loss courtesy of Judge's homer while seeing his postseason ERA balloon from 0.00 to 6.75. The Yankees could get out to an early lead off Varland It's fair to question the Varland choice. Not only is he coming off a disastrous appearance, he has also appeared in each of the first three games of the series, giving the Yankees ample opportunity view and get a feel for his stuff. Of course, he'll also have to face the top of the Yankees lineup, including Judge, who is 7-11 (.636 batting average) with five RBI in the series. Judge, in addition to being scorching hot in the ALDS and delivering the big blow in Game 3, has an excellent track record in elimination games. He has six home runs in elimination games, tying Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz for the most in MLB postseason history, per MLB Stats. Varland made one previous appearance as an opener for the Blue Jays, against the Red Sox on September 25 when he went 2.0 innings and struck out three. Getting out a lead early will be key to helping rookie right-hander Cam Schlittler settle in and replicate his performance against the Red Sox in the wild-card round, where he pitched eight innings and struck out 12.
