The Cleveland Browns play their final preseason game of the year on Saturday when they host the Los Angeles Rams. A win would give Cleveland a perfect 3-0 record in exhibition play.
Once the preseason wraps up, the Browns will turn their focus to roster cutdowns, trimming from 90 players down to 53. Several veterans could be on their way out as the team finalizes its roster.
Harris is the most experienced veteran along the Browns’ defensive line, but the team has invested heavily in younger talent at his position. Mason Graham, a top-five pick in April, and Mike Hall Jr., a second-rounder last season, are both poised to contribute right away. Maliek Collins is expected to start alongside Graham.
Where things get interesting is with undrafted free agent Adin Huntington, who may have earned a roster spot with his play in camp. Sam Kamara has also flashed at times. With the younger options available, Cleveland could decide to move on from Harris and get younger up front.
Cleveland was the only team willing to take a chance on Johnson after last season’s tough stretch for him in which he suited up for three different teams. Once he worked his way back into game shape, Johnson looked like a potential bargain signing.
Not that long ago, Diontae Johnson was one of the game’s truly explosive, consistently reliable pass-catchers. He got (way) off track, is now clawing his way back and #Browns GM Andrew Berry says he’s working like an UFA and been a great teammate. @Juiceup__3 and I talked pic.twitter.com/87eKnniZu2

However, with Gage Larvadain and Kaden Davis both making strong cases this preseason, Johnson’s roster spot is far from secure. The Browns also added Isaiah Bond, who joins Jerry Jeudy, Cedric Tillman, and Jamari Thrash as roster locks. That could leave Johnson on the outside looking in.
The Browns traded for Pickett early in the offseason, making him their first quarterback addition of the year. For a while, it even looked like he might compete to be the Week 1 starter. But that never materialized, as Joe Flacco has secured the job.
Cleveland could decide to cut ties and absorb the small loss, or they might look to flip Pickett in a late-round trade. The team hasn’t ruled out keeping four quarterbacks, but while possible, it’s not the most practical roster construction.
