Former World No.1 Ana Ivanovic reportedly splits with legendary footballer Bastian Schweinsteiger after eight years of marriage

According to German media, Ana Ivanovic who is former World No.1 has reportedly ended her marriage to German football legend Bastian Schweinsteiger after eight years.

The reports came from German out let Bunte who reported that the couple separated two months ago though neither Ivanovic or Schweinsteiger have come out to address the matter.

The pair who got married in 2016 in Venice have had three children together with the Serbian ending her career soon after they got married. Her husband played for three more years but they were seen as one of the best power couples in sport.

The couple though have always remained private in their approach to married life after living forward facing lives in their respective sports. Ivanovic of course winning the 2008 French Open. while Schweinsteiger was a World Cup winner back in 2014.

Ivanovic ironically hit the headlines this week for playing at the Geneva Open in a few weeks alongside Martina Hingis in mixed doubles so will soon return to the court. She welcomed two sons Luka born in 2018 and Leon born in 2019 as well as a third son in May 2023.

They spoke last year to Bild in an interview about their relationship with Ivanovic saying that she won't let him win with the couple of course having an inner competitive nature. "He really fights to win. But I won't let him win," she said.

Schweinsteiger responded that he was thrashed by Ivanovic during the matches on court and didn't stand a chance even with his wife being nearly ten years retired. “She lets me run! From left to right, from front to back - it's brutal.

“I never thought that there was no chance for me. I lost 1:6, 2:6.”

But that is now reportedly over as the pair will now go their separate ways after appearing to be one of the most stable couples in the sporting world with two of the best in their field at periods during their careers.
