Four Crotone players attacked on beach

Four Crotone players were attacked with blunt instruments by fans following a recent Serie C defeat to Brindisi, leaving the youngest with a broken cheekbone.

The Pitagorici, who spent three seasons in Serie A from 2016 to 2021, have been in freefall since their time in the topflight, suffering relegation to the third division in the 2021-22 season.

Despite suffering relegation, Brindisi came out to fight in their Serie C clash with Crotone on Sunday, picking up a 2-1 win at the Stadio Ezio Scida, infuriating the home fans.

Lacnews24 highlighted how four Pitagorici players were at the beach with their partners when a group of over 20 fans approached, attacking the footballers with blunt instruments, breaking the youngest member of the four’s cheekbone.

The Serie C side have already released a statement in response to the incident, expressing their full solidarity with the victims and condemning the fan attack.
