Fox Sports Announces Decision On Colin Cowherd Amid Illness

After leaving Monday's show early due to an illness, Colin Cowherd's on-air appearances have been thrown into question. But today we got a lot more clarity on when the Fox Sports show host will be back.

On Tuesday's episode of The Herd, show fill-in Jason McIntyre offered an update on the longtime host. McIntyre said that while Cowherd is still out sick, he is expected to be back this coming Thursday and will be working on the Super Bowl in New Orleans. McIntyre joked that Cowherd may still be too sick to sit next to him, but that Cowherd has said he's fine.

“Colin out sick, but he is back Thursday at the Super Bowl, we will be live from New Orleans,” McIntyre said, via Awful Announcing. “He tells me he’s going to treat me to all these expensive meals down there. I’m like, ‘Dude, I don’t know if I want to sit next to you if you’re sick.’ But he says he’s fine, he’s gonna be ok.”

Cowherd was right in the middle of a segment on Monday's show when his voice suddenly got really bad. He went to a commercial break and when the show came back, it was McIntyre taking over Cowherd's segments.

“Folks, I’m gonna take a break,” Cowherd said before cutting to a break. “I am getting very, very sick, very, very quickly on this set. And we will return.”

McIntyre also noted that another member of the staff had to go home sick. So either whatever Cowherd has may be contagious, or he's the victim of something contagious.

Given that Fox has the broadcast rights to the Super Bowl this year, Cowherd is basically the network's point-man on the topics leading up to the big game. While they may be loathe to go without him for even a few days, it bodes well that they'll have him back for the final couple of days.

Will Cowherd be at 100-percent for final two shows before the Super Bowl?
