This wasn’t how the Colorado State season was supposed to go.

They had the experience, the upside, and the coaching in place, but it isn’t working with a 1-4 start, no wins over FBS teams, and nothing going according to plan.

But now the Rams have three home games in the next four, the schedule isn’t bad, and it’s time to go on a run.

Fresno State lost to Kansas in ugly fashion in the opener, and it’s been rolling ever since. It hasn’t played anyone great, but no one throws back a five-game winning streak. This is a must-win, though, with San Diego State and Boise State up next.

Why Fresno State Will Win

Apparently, start throwing the ball deep on Colorado State.

San Diego State's offense wasn't anything special, but last Friday night, the lack of any Ram pass rush allowed the deep plays to develop. All of a sudden, the Aztecs were the Greatest Show on Surf.

Speaking of the old St. Louis Rams, Kurt Warner's son, EJ Warner, has been solid so far for Fresno State.

The offense is better when the ground game is working, but the big plays have been there over the last few weeks, Warner is connecting on 73% of his passes, and defense isn't even Colorado State's problem. More on this in a moment.

Why Colorado State Will Win

The Colorado State offensive parts are too strong to be this mediocre offensively.

The running game hasn't been bad, and big bomber Jascon Brousseau has had a few nice moments over the last few weeks, and at some point, there's going to be a breakout moment.

Yes, Fresno State is on a five-game winning streak, but it hasn't been consistent, and it hasn't beaten anyone who's any good - with all due respect to a 23-21 victory at Hawaii.

The Bulldogs will turn the ball over - eight in the last two games, and the Rams need to take advantage of every shot because ...

Can Either Team Get the O Going?

It's almost like Colorado State forgets to score.

It'll move the ball a bit, and there's a decent balance, but the attack runs a few plays, and then wants to give the other team a turn.

Fresno State doesn't generate nearly enough pressure to be a bother. Colorado State doesn't have turnover issues. It'll come up with two takeaways, and finally, there will be a ray of hope in a disappointing season.
