The Gabriela Fundora fan club continues to grow as she put on a dominant performance as the co-main to Oscar Collazo vs. Jayson Vayson.
Fundora (17-0, 9 KOs) scored a seventh-round TKO over Alexas Kubicki (13-2, 2 KOs) in front of a loud crowd at the Fantasy Springs Casino & Resort in Indio, CA. After the fight, Fundora told DAZN’s Chris Mannix that she could move down in weight class for more world titles, but she will speak to her team about it. For now, Fundora remains the undisputed flyweight champion, and that position doesn’t seem to be in any type of danger.
In the opening round, Fundora wasted no time in establishing her right jab. Then she would mix in a combination of the right hook to the head, followed by a straight left. This combination turned Kubicki’s face cherry red as her frustration grew within the round. Fundora continued punishing Kubicki in the second round as the Canadian had no offense to offer that would disrupt Fundora’s downhill style. Fundora’s straight left and left hook were the key punches in the round for her.
In the third round, Kubicki found a home for her straight hand, which bothered Fundora, but it also triggered her to increase her punch output. Fundora would start concentrating on the body of Kubicki late in the round, which had her backpedaling. A small mouse began to develop underneath the left eye of Kubicki, which was a result of Fundora’s right hooks throughout the fourth round.
The fifth and sixth rounds saw Fundora dominate her opponent with relentless offense. So much so that at the beginning of the seventh round, the referee had Kubicki checked out by the ringside physician. He allowed the fight to continue, but after Fundora landed a hard combination, the referee stepped in and stopped the fight. It’s another dominant win for Fundora as she retains her undisputed titles.
