Just six days remain for the most-anticipated MMA fight of the year, and Gina Carano looks ready to win.
Carano is training for the biggest fight of her career, and every day in her training camp is intense. And recently, while promoting a clothing brand, she gave another glimpse into how her preparations were going. And it showed her ready to take on any opponent at any time.
The clothing brand in question, Just Fight , shared a video of Carano donning their apparel while training in the cage. In the video, she was seen practicing her striking with coach John Wood at the Syndicate Gym. The 43-year-old looked confident and prepared to face Ronda Rousey on May 16.
The video was just a glimpse of her brutal training camp, while also promoting the brand. Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) posted another video of Carano. In the video, she practiced her boxing skills with her long-time coach, Chris Ben, and while sharing some details on her progress, he said,
“There’s direction in this camp. Like we’re training for a specific person, for a specific fight. She wants this. This is the fight that she wants. This is what we’ve done all the preparation for.”
He also revealed that Carano’s objective is to show her capabilities to the fullest rather than just get in the cage and fight. She wants to fight to the best of her abilities to prove her worth to herself. He also revealed that she has developed a good instinct for fighting and is a savant when it comes to learning new things.
In one of her videos, she was even joined by former UFC champion Merab Dvalishvili, who also trains under John Wood.
Carano’s head coach, John Wood, seems confident in her abilities. In an interview with MMA Fighting, the coach revealed what his ultimate objective is for Carano.
“It doesn’t matter what the purpose is…. it all comes down to plain and simple: Winning fights. Trying to win fights”.
According to him, she is ‘fired up’ and ready to do amazing things. He also supported her and Rousey’s decision to return to fighting after a long absence.
“People are going to say this or say that. I’ll tell you both these ladies are training. Both these ladies still have it, and they’re both going to come out there and put on a great fight”.
Who are you rooting for in the upcoming May 16th fight?
