Over the last five seasons, the Buffalo Bills have made their climb up from the doldrums of the NFL and cemented themselves as one of the league's elite franchises year to year. This run has coincided with five straight AFC East Championships.
The Bills have grown accustomed to performing on a big stage and usually challenge fellow franchises of the same ilk. No other team in the AFC has held that status more profoundly in recent seasons than the Kansas City Chiefs.
Buffalo and Kansas City's rivalry has become must-see theater when the two share the field. The last nine matchups, the Chiefs have taken five games compared to the four from Buffalo.
Unfortunately for Bills fans, Kansas City's victories have unquestionably come at the more timely moments given they hold a 4-0 record in these matchups in the playoffs.
The most recent heartbreak for the Bills came in January when the Chiefs eeked out a controversial 32-29 win in the AFC Championship. While the Bills are certainly capable of toppling their rival, they just cannot get over the hump at that stage.
It is certainly a frustrating reality for Bills Mafia, but especially so for franchise quarterback Josh Allen. He arguably had the best season of his career in 2024, capping it off by winning the league's Most Valuable Player award.
Allen has since had time to process that defeat. Adorably, it seems his fiancée Hailee Steinfeld sympathizes with her beloved's frustration.
During a recent appearance on "Hot Ones Versus," she competed against actor Michael B. Jordan and struggled to compile an answer when asked to name three nice things about the Chiefs.
"I can find nice things to say about anybody, even if I don't like them... even if we don't like them." She stammered through her three answers, "yellow and red really complement them pretty well... they are very loud, they're very loud.... they go hard."
Assuming this excellence continues for Buffalo, Allen and the Bills may find themselves in a similar place next season with a chance at redemption. Of course, the goal is to get past them and compete for a Super Bowl, something the Bills have not done in decades.
If Allen maintains his high level of play, eventually the Bills may be too hard to deny anymore.
